May 22 - 28

  1. The Bees Knees Jamboree at Buds at Silver Run - Join at Bud’s at Silver Run for a roaring evening of hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, live music from the Jake Fine Jazz Trio, and a silent auction!
  1. Basic Knife Skills - This hands-on class will cover everything you need to know about caring for your knives and how to use them. You’ll learn how to chop, dice, and mince and get plenty of practice with other professional cuts. This is a beginner class.
  1. Chess at the Library - Are you a chess champion or want to learn? Show off your best moves against other chess players! Experienced and novice chess players are welcome.
  1. Sprout Film Festival - Join the CCAC and the Arc for an evening of films that inspire audiences, promote inclusion, and support transformative filmmaking as an integral part of social change. This unique event, which focuses exclusively on films that celebrate the diverse lives and creativity of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), strives to challenge assumptions and breakdown stereotypes. By introducing powerful, thought-provoking films from around the world to new and ever-more inclusive audiences, the Sprout Film Festival’s hope to promote greater acceptance, celebrate difference and light the spark to help make the invisible, visible.
  1. Guided Kayak Trip - Enjoy a serene paddle around Piney Run Lake as you enjoy scenic views of the forested shoreline and abundant wildlife. No experience is necessary. Kayak, Paddle, and life vest are provided. Youth 15 and under must have an adult present in the same boat. 
  1. Gamber and Community Fire Company Carnival - Carnival runs from Friday, May 26- June 3rd. Carnival opens nightly at 6pm. It will be closed Wednesday May 31 to give the volunteers a night off. As in years past they have partnered with Rosedale Attractions and Shows to bring the community great rides, games and food.
  1. Family Baking Class: Koala Cake - Bake a "beary" adorable Koala Cake. Learn to make a basic buttercream frosting and turn cake layers into a decorated treat you can take home. 
  1. Live Music: The Reagan Years - Check out the ultimate 80s tribute at Island Green Family Fun Center!
  1. Marcia L. Bogash Playwright Festival - An evening of staged readings of short plays by local high school playwrights. The performance is followed by a Q&A session with the selected playwrights!
  1. Sip and Plant Succulent Workshop at Pipe the Side Brewing Company - Join Sunday, May 28th from 1pm-2:30pm for a DIY Rustic Succulent Planter Workshop with The Succulent Hippie . You will get to hand pick your own succulents, and add-ins to add your special touch. The add-ins consist of colored sand, colored rocks, colored moss, and much more per theme. All are welcome to attend, this is a beginner friendly class.
