September 26th - October 2nd

  1. Let’s Take a Hike at Finksburg Library - It's fall! The best time of year for a hike! Listen to stories and music followed by a hike in Sandymount Park. Pack a lunch and stay afterward to play with friends.
  1. A is for Apple . . . Pie that is! Find out what makes an apple a good baking apple at Exploration Commons. Try some samples and choose the types of apples to use in your pie. Prepare a scratch pie crust and assemble the pie here, then take it home to bake right away or freeze for later.
  1. Family Cooking Class: Harry Potter Sweets and Treats - Enjoy the sweets and treats featured in Harry Potter in this hands-on cooking class. Families will make butterbeer, chocolate frogs, and more!  
  1. String Art Maker Night at Pipe the Side Brewing Company - Pipe the Side Brewing Company is hosting a maker night with Desolate Pariah Studios. Ticket cost covers EVERYTHING you need to make your very own string art butterfly or skull. All guests will receive 15% off your tab for the night. Limited tickets available, be sure to select your board option at checkout.
  1. Rosa Parks Beyond the Bus: Life, Lessons, and Leadership - Join H. H. Leonards as she talks about her new book and answers questions about her experience with Rosa Parks.
  1. Music, Tutus, and Movement at the Westminster Outdoor Stage - Ballet Embody is Maryland's premier professional contemporary ballet company, based in Westminster, Maryland. Founded in 2019 by Emily Runkle and Melissa Lineburg, Ballet Embody has performed five full-length ballets for Carroll County audiences including their original version of The Nutcracker called The Maryland Nutcracker. Ballet Embody will be performing selections from The Maryland Nutcracker, as well as traditional classical ballet dances and contemporary dance pieces, intertwining a fun and engaging lecture demonstration on how ballet has evolved through the last several centuries. Audience members are invited to ask questions about ballet technique, storytelling, what it's like to be a ballerina, etc. at the end of the performance. 
  1. Oktoberfest of Carroll County - Please join for Oktoberfest of Carroll County, brought to you once again by the four Rotary Clubs of Carroll County. Don’t miss out on a family friendly experience that includes entertainment and activities, authentic German food, historical displays and performances, and did we mention beer? This unique event takes place only once a year and is rich with history and tradition. Break out the Lederhosen and mark your calendars for this fantastic event!
  1. Corn Maze at Carroll County Agricultural Center - The Corn Maze starts Friday September 23rd and runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through October 31st.  They will be open on Monday Oct. 31st for Halloween!
  1. Spooktacular Crafts at Finksburg Library - Stop in for a spell and unleash your creativity with these spine-tingling Halloween crafts sure to get you in the spirit. All supplies provided.

The Chesapeake Sons at Carroll Arts Center - Jason Morton’s email signature is one of Steve Jobs’ famous quotes, “My model for business is The Beatles: They were four guys that kept each other’s negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other.
