You're in luck. August 14-20 is tax-free week in Maryland! This week long sales tax holiday applies to clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less. The first $40 of a new backpack is also tax-free! Keep in mind that not all merchandise items are included in this tax break. For example, scarves, purses, jewelry, ties, headbands, and belt buckles are all taxed during this week and are not tax-exempt.
