June 28th-July 4th

  1. CCAC: Adapt and Inspire Exhibit - Head to the Carroll Arts Center to see an exhibit featuring works from Carroll County Public School teachers.
  1. CCPL: Tails and Tales Painting Kit and Demonstration - Join Art Teacher Nicole Osborne on Zoom and create a Tails and Tales work of art. Pick up an art kit at the library branch of your choice; kits will be available for pick up from Friday, June 25 to Monday, June 28. 
  1. A Likely Story Bookstore: June Evening Book Club - Join in for a discussion on the novel The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi!
  1. Hike Around Piney Run Park - Take the family on a beautiful hike around Piney Run Park. There are trails all around the Piney Run Nature Center as well as around the lake area. 
  2. CCPL: Get Ready to Read - Join us for an outdoor program where we will read a story together and play games and songs that will help your child review letters, letter sounds, and other reading skills in a fun and interactive environment. After every program, participants will be given an activity to take home to use throughout the summer aimed to help review and improve reading skills. If we must cancel due to bad weather, we will send an email to the registrants on the morning of the program.
  1. Dancing Made Easy: Friday Night Dance - Enjoy great music, socializing and lots of fun dancing. We wear masks and stay physically distant.
  1. Carroll County Farmers Market - Come early and let us help you with your baked goods, vegetables, and decorations for your weekend celebrations.  We have local sweet corn and local tomatoes this week!
  1. 2021 Let Freedom Ring Parade - The Downtown Sykesville Connection is hosting its third “Let Freedom Ring Parade” on Saturday, July 3, 2021. The Let Freedom Ring parade will start at 10 am that day, beginning at Sykesville Middle School and proceeding down Springfield Avenue and the length of Historic Main Street, with floats and vehicles accompanying the approximately 30 participants marching in units and organized groups. Parade floats will be judged and awards for floats will be announced after the parade. The parade should be over just in time for lunch and ice cream downtown Sykesville. Bring the whole family and celebrate America’s birthday, Sykesville-style!
  1. Carroll County Farm Museum: Fourth of July Celebration - Our Fourth of July Celebration is currently scheduled to occur on 07/04/2021 with a NEW time from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Events are contingent on COVID-19 restrictions at time of event.  Gates open at 6 p.m. with fireworks starting around 9:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per car. Please no pets, fireworks, sparklers, alcohol, grills, glass containers, or tents. Park Avenue will be providing live entertainment.
  1. CCPL: Marlene at Home - Welcome to Marlene at Home! Come on in for a weekly visit and make yourself comfy, without wearing masks or observing social distancing. Just know you are warmly welcomed as we share this time together and talk about being at home on a variety of topics, from decorating to simple recipes, things we enjoy collecting, music, our porches, family traditions, our pets, and more.
