March 8th-14th

  1. CCPL: Celebrate Pi Day - Celebrate Pi Day with fun crafts and activities! Take-home kits will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Express Pickup area of the Taneytown Branch. You can pick one up during library hours starting March 8th through Pi Day, while supplies last!
  1. A Likely Bookstore: Small Biz Steals - Join A Likely Bookstore for "Small Biz Steals"...their own little version of The Today Show's "Jill's Steals and Deals" (on a smaller scale....and loving on our local, small businesses, of course!) They will highlight lots of small, local businesses, who have shared AWESOME "steals" with them, so that they can share them with you! All you have to do is tune in to their live Facebook event, in the Be Essential page, and then cash in on all the "steals" you love! 
  1. CCPL: Random Bits of Trivia Night - What trivia tidbits are rattling around in your head? Grab a few friends and join the Finksburg Branch for trivia night on Zoom! Teams of up to five can sign up by registering online. Only one person per team needs to register. Prizes provided by Finksburg's Bistro 91.
  1. Facebook Live with Doc McStuffins - Laurel's Princess Parties Gives Back Program is proud to present their FREE Public FB Live series. Would your child love a shout-out by name during a Live Stream? Sponsor a FB Live for only $5 for a shout-out that will happen at the END of the Live. This makes your time even more personal and supports our team so that they can continue to provide these free opportunities to the public.   1. Bear Cub Explorers at Bear Branch Nature Center - After reviewing a nature-related theme, often with the help of one or more of our captive animals, you’ll  head outside to put your new knowledge to the test! You’ll finish up with a related craft to remind you of your day. Each month explores a different theme; activities are planned for ages 5-9; tag-along siblings must register. 
  1. Evermore Farm: Pick up some pasture-raised meat for dinner - They sell their meats at the farm year-round. You can place an order via the phone, email, or just come to the farm. The most convenient way to get started purchasing their great pasture-raised meats and poultry is to check their product list and pricing using the “Shop with Us” tab.  This allows you to do your grocery shopping with them completely online.  Once you’ve placed your order, Ginger will contact you with product availability and arrange for pick-up at the farm. If you’ve not ordered from them before or you have questions about product availability, cooking methods, or packaging, you can speak with Ginger at 443-398-6548. Meats are packed in family-friendly portions. Ground beef, grillers, bacon, stew cubes, and sausages are in one pound packs. Steaks are one per pack and pork and lamb chops are two per package. Their pulled pork BBQ comes in a two pound tub. Roast are generally cut to 2.5-3.0 pounds. Specialty cuts and larger cuts can be ordered in advance. Our whole chickens are 4.5-5.0 pounds.
  1. March for Parks 5K at Piney Run Park - Day of Registration begins at 8am; race is from 9am to 11am. $25 for pre-registration and $30 day of for anyone 10 and older. Participants aged 9 and under are $10. T-shirts will be ordered for those who pre-register for this event. 
  1. Carroll County Farm Museum: St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt and Craft Kit - Winter Holiday themed scavenger hunts and craft kits Feb 19 @ 7:00 am – Apr 3 @ 7:00 pm. The St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt and craft kit begins March 13th and runs through March 21st. Deposit your scavenger hunt paper in the box at the front office and be entered in a drawing for a Family Season Pass. Museum hours are M-F 9 am to 4:30 pm and Sat and Sun noon to 4:00 pm.
  1. Have a Picnic at Serpent Ridge Winery - Come in and visit to see some of their new décor, wine gifts, and snack offerings such as local cheese, mustards, sausages, olives, crackers and chocolates. You are always welcome to bring your own snack or picnic as well!
  1. Polymer Clay Gift Making Workshop - Polymer Clay Gift Making with Jaqui MacMillan. In this workshop you will learn how to build beautiful patterns, called "canes", with different colors of polymer clay. Cane designs can be applied to ornaments, beads, boxes and a variety of other gift items. In this class you will make ornaments and beads. You are also welcome to create whatever you would like with your canes. It has been such a joy to see what beautiful things come out of this class!
