Getting out of bed when the alarm goes off on cold mornings can be a struggle. I always set my alarm with enough time for some 'me-time,' which consists of a workout followed by breakfast. As last year was coming to an end, I found myself spending more and more time in the mornings lying in bed, scrolling on my phone. I would save just enough time to squeeze in my workout, but not enough to enjoy breakfast on my own. Slamming down breakfast while trying to take care of everyone else does not exactly put me in 'nice mom' mode.

My house runs so much smoother when I have breakfast by myself with my journal in hand. I’m a better mom when I start the day doing a few things just for me. It’s worth the early morning wake up to know that I’m taking care of myself and will then be both mentally and physically ready to care for everyone else all day long. Everyone knows, as parents, we set the tone for our child’s day. Starting your day with 'me-time' isn’t selfish, it’s self-care that will benefit your family.

This week I’ve gotten back to having breakfast by myself and it’s made such a difference. I’m in a much better place mentally when my tank isn’t empty at 7:00 AM, when my littles are demanding everything under the sun, work emails are starting to ping on my phone, and virtual learning is in sight.

For breakfast, I’ve found it’s easiest if I stick with a simple setup that doesn’t require too much planning or effort on my part. I like to change up the flavors, but I stick to the following items so I’m assured an easy, nourishing, and balanced breakfast every day:

  1. Fresh Fruit
Apples, strawberries, oranges, bananas, whatever we have on hand. It’s so easy to grab a serving.
  2. BELVITA Breakfast Biscuits
With a variety of flavors to choose from, it’s simple to change up my breakfast without having to completely rework my breakfast. Packed in convenient, individual sized portions, all I have to do is grab a pack from the pantry. Designed to provide up to four hours of steady, nutritious energy, BELVITA Breakfast Biscuits have become a must-have during my morning 'me-time.' They also go great with coffee. Which brings me to my next breakfast must have…
  3. International Delights Coffee Creamer
Sweet and creamy, International Delights Coffee Creamer keeps my coffee interesting every day. It’s the jump start I need to get my day going. With so many flavors, there’s always a new one I’m eager to try. I just added International Delight's new Zero Sugar* Caramel Macchiato Coffee Creamer flavor to next week’s Target grocery list.
  4. Light & Fit Greek Nonfat Yogurt
With only 80 calories per 6 oz serving, 14g protein and 0% fat, it’s the perfect addition to rounding out a balanced breakfast. Plus, there’s a flavor to appeal to every taste.

Having a bit of 'me-time' in the morning with a nourishing breakfast is easy thanks to fresh fruit, low fat dairy, BELVITA Breakfast Biscuits, and coffee with creamer. I’m in love with this balanced breakfast combination. When mom starts the day in a good mood, it sets the tone for the whole house. Once the little feet in my house hit the floor, I’m nourished and ready to tackle the day.

To make my morning 'me-time' breakfast even easier, I get everything from Target pick-up. It’s fast, convenient, and I can still save using Target Circle offers. Right now through the end of January, Target Circle is offering 20% off BELVITA Breakfast Biscuits, and 10% off International Delight Coffee Creamer Quarts, and Light & Fit Yogurt.
